Este artículo analiza la participación del sacerdote Francisco Carrascón en la revolución de Cuzco en 1814. Se presta especial atención a sus escritos que animaban a la independencia y a la creación de una patria peruana con el fin de profundizar en su pensamiento y conocer sus ideales revolucionarios. Finalmente se estudia el proceso militar al que fue sometido y su sentencia.This article analyzes priest Francisco Carrascon’s participation in the revolution of Cuzco in 1814. Particular attention is paid to his writings that encouraged independence and the creation of a Peruvian homeland, in order to allow a profound study of his thought and discern his revolutionary ideas. Finally we study the military trial to which he was subjected and his subsequent sentence

Software for determining dripline irrigation pipes using a Pocket PC

This communication presents the development of a freeware for mobile devices (Smartphone and Pocket PC). It was developed with a LabVIEW program, and enables engineers and installers to calculate commercial diameters to be used in laterals of drip irrigation, without the need for being at the personal computer. Input data required: drippers flow rates, number of drippers, spacing between the drippers, medium pressure in the lateral and pressure tolerance. As results, it shows commercial diameters that can be used with diode LED, maximum and minimum pressures for each lateral, and a graphic that shows, on a comparative, wether it exceeds each lateral of the pressure tolerance or not

El cultivo del olivo en la América colonial. Propuesta de investigación

The issue of the olive tree in Colonial America has been rarely studied. Therefore it is relevant to promote research iniciatives aiming to gather better insights on the consequences of the introduction of this tree in the New World. The main goal of the present work is to point out the historiographical vacuum in this regard, and to propose some key lines of action in order to correct it. With the aim of stressing the importance of this topic, the following lines are discussed: land ownership regime and its exploitation system, characteristics of the work force: procedence and working conditions, technologies employed, production volume and markets of the olives, ecological impact and alternative usages of the olive tree. The scarcity of sources represents the main obstacle for achieving optimal results.El tema del olivo en la América colonial ha sido poco estudiado. Por tanto, tiene interés promover iniciativas de investigación dirigidas a un mejor conocimiento de todo lo relativo a esta planta que fue aclimatada en el Nuevo Mundo. El objetivo de este artículo es poner de relieve el vacío historiográfico detectado en este campo y la idoneidad de subsanarlo mediante la propuesta de algunas pautas de investigación. Su pretensión última no es otra que llamar la atención sobre la importancia que posee este tema y para ello se esbozan algunas posibles líneas de investigación: régimen de propiedad de la tierra y sistema de explotación, características de la mano de obra, procedencia y condiciones laborales, tecnología empleada, volumen de producción de aceituna, destino de la misma, mercados, impacto ecológico, o usos alternativos del olivo. La precariedad de las fuentes documentales representa el obstáculo más grave para lograr óptimos resultados
